I am told that bank tellers learn to recognize counterfeit banknote, not by being shown the fakes, but by ever only handling the real. If all you know is the real, what is false stands out all by itself. This really is the approach of Dawson in “Real Christianity.” Sometimes hard-hitting, often challenging, the “real” helps one to understand just how much we have been handling the substitute.
